A message of hope from one of the world's leading climate scientists - act now, it's not too late!

Professor Tim Lenton, a founder of the Global Systems Institute and Chair in Climate Change and Earth System Science at the University of Exeter will explain positive tipping points.

We have left it too late to tackle climate change incrementally. It now requires transformational change, and a dramatic acceleration of progress.

"In the face of such vast problems, we feel disempowered," said Professor Tim Lenton, director of the Global Systems Institute at the University of Exeter.

"But – just as Tipping Points are part of the greatest threat we face – the same logic may also provide the solution. At the University of Exeter, we have identified a variety of Positive Tipping Points in human societies that can propel rapid decarbonisation.

We're extremely lucky to have one of the world's top climate scientists join us. We find out more from Tim and also ask him what visitor attractions can do.

Why climate activists Like JSO take radical action and how does it work?

We will be asking JSO Supporter Eddie Whittingham to explain Just Stop Oil's goals, and why action is being taken that risks damaging works of art and the institutions that care for them. We'll also ask what he thinks art galleries should do to avoid being targeted.

Professor Colin Davis, Chair in Cognitive Psychology, will lead us through the psychology of climate change and direct action. How should information about climate change be communicated, and what are the factors that give rise to apparent climate apathy? How does radical action like that taken by Just Stop Oil achieve its aims?

This is a really thought-provoking session in which we let JSO explain themselves and then look at scientific research around climate action efficacy. If you think you know what Just Stop Oil want you probably don't ...
